Opening of the exhibition by Bohdan Załęski, 1966, Warsaw

Bohdan Załęski (PL, 1930–2015) was an avant-garde visual artist, participant of, among others, Biennial of Spatial Forms in Elbląg or the “Golden Grape” exhibition in Zielona Góra. He was also known as Bo Zalesius. “Presently I am interested in how movement can be captured by a plastic sign. I am trying to compare ‘moving’ signs, arising in forcible attacks upon matter, with those which are hardly perceptible ‘strokes’. I am showing changes that occur in time when energy set free is gradually dying. Or I would gradually lessen the sign representing movement to such extent that it can no longer remain a sign but rather becomes an element of the texture…” Extract from the artist’s statement, exhibithion catalog, Galeria Foksal, Warsaw, May 1966.
